Emily: Nutrition Specialist

Name: Emily Klein

Age: 29

City: Atlanta, Georgia

Main Hustle: Oncology Dietitian at Emory Winship Cancer Institute. I see medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgical oncology patients. I help with healthy eating for prevention, during treatments, and for survivorship.

Every cancer diagnosis is very different in its nutrition needs and alterations. I enjoy helping educate patients in regard to treatment side effects and to help eliminate any confusion.

Side Hustle: I work for Wellness Corporate Solutions when possible. For this company, I meet with clients about their overall health and prevention. They are seen with a blood draw, and I assess them following this.

I have always LOVED nutrition. I am very passionate about preventative care and nutrition education. Now more than ever, I find people are very confused about what is truly nutritious, especially in this media-driven society. Nutrition does not have a one-sentence definition. My goal is to educate those interested in healthy eating and cooking, as well as encourage them to be their best selves—and HAPPY!

How did you get started?: I first became interested in nutrition as a little girl. My mom has always been an avid gardener, and I grew up watering and planting vegetables with her. As I grew up more in my high school years, I wanted to learn more about the foods we eat and how this can affect us. I knew I wanted a career in nutrition.

I got started officially by majoring in nutrition and dietetics at Auburn University and completed my Internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have worked in many different fields of nutrition and am now specialized in Oncology Nutrition, as well as a licensed dietitian and Registered Dietitian.
